Updated Version with more and better hands-on. For the past 15 years, "vertipreps" or preparations for crowns without a clear margin have been making a comeback. Resurgent from the so-called "trace" cervical margin of the ancestral ringed crowns, vertipreps or V-preps have logically accompanied the rise of a new, highly resistant ceramic, zirconia.

These preparations allow for significant savings in dental tissue, but they require quality gingival conditioning.

The icing on the cake is that by optimising the ferrule effect, they can be combined with modern coronal-radicular reconstructions, without root posts.
