Different clinical approaches of connection between full arch restorations and implants can be applied. The restoration can either be removable or fixed to the implants. Screw-retained bridges are most commonly utilized for full arch rehabilitation cases, where satisfying esthetic outcome and passive fit with retrievability of the restoration are achieved. However, the factors which have the influence on peri-implantitis, especially smoking and poor oral hygiene do not have beneficial impact on fixed restorations.
Dr. Wasiluk compares advantages and disadvantages of fixed and removable full arch restorations reviewing current literature and presenting his own experience. Biological aspects influencing the design of reconstructions are discussed. Solutions for predictable and aesthetic removable restoration, applying new material types, are shown.
